“Portability”
is the process to transfer your Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher issued
in another Housing Authority’s
jurisdiction to the Colorado Springs Housing Authority.
Here’s
an explanation of the process to transfer your Section 8 Voucher to Colorado
Springs:
 | You
must fulfill all obligations to your current Housing Authority before your
file can be sent to us. Upon
transfer to our jurisdiction all of our rules, policies, payment standards
and occupancy standards will apply. We
will conduct a background check for all drug-related or violent criminal
activity. |

we have received your paperwork, please contact the
Intake Department to
schedule an orientation appointment
at 719-387-6728. Please
note that we will not be able to work with you until we have your paperwork
from your current Housing Authority. During
our appointment, we will review rules, polices and procedures, along with
current payment standards. You
will receive all of the necessary paperwork to find a unit. |

allow 3
to 4 weeks for the portability
process to be complete. This
includes time for the appointment and scheduling an inspection. |
